Accidents kill visitors at unusually high rate

Tourism officials and first responders are redoubling their efforts to raise visitor awareness about the potential perils of Hawaii's natural attractions after at least 11 accidental deaths of tourists this year.
The deaths comprise five drownings, four traffic fatalities and two falls from cliffs.

The Laki eruption has been estimated to have killed over two million people globally, making it the deadliest volcanic eruption in the history of mankind. The drop in temperatures, due to the sulfuric dioxide gases spewed into the northern hemisphere, caused crop failures in Europe, droughts in India, and Japan experienced its worst famine.

"Laws against pimps or others who coerce and abuse sex workers would remain in full force, but would be easier to prosecute as the victims would no longer be criminals themselves."
Can we begin to see the foolishness of the statement by Ms. Ryan?
To support and assist victims is to first help them in overcoming the effects of victimization. Second, is to supply them with the tools and resources necessary to prevent repetition of negativity in thought and habits that would lead to perpetuation and, above all, their acceptance of and cooperation in their further victimization.

Three Royal Hawaiian hotel employees told police they saw a man on top of someone who was kicking on the beach fronting the hotel early Oct. 2, according to court documents.
Aaron M. Susa, center, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Bryanna Antone, appeared in court yesterday.
Three hours later the body of 25-year-old Bryanna Antone of New Mexico was found in the ocean near the site of the struggle.
Two of the employees said the person underneath was a woman, while the third was not sure. One of the employees, a cook, said he saw the man on top of the woman, "either shoving or choking her with both hands near the throat area," the documents said.
The cook told police the man "made the choking or shoving movement five times, then stopped, for a total of 30 repetitions," the documents said. He said it appeared the man was also trying to hug or kiss the woman, and she was kicking her legs, but that neither of them was making a sound during the encounter, which lasted about 10 minutes.
